No. It works with the number you already have. Friends, clients, and your bank keep seeing the same number they always have. Nothing to port and no new number to hand out.
What if my phone is gone and the SIM went with it?
That is the case it was built for. Sign in on any other iPhone, Android phone, or tablet and your line is there: contacts, messages, call history, and voicemail. You can call and text from your own number while you sort out a replacement.
Is it free?
Yes. MobileyMe is free to download and use, with a monthly allowance of calls and texts. Premium is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year and removes the caps, adds unlimited backup and priority support. No card is needed for the free plan.
Does it work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes, and you can cross over. Lose an iPhone, borrow an Android, and your line follows you. Web access from a laptop is next on the roadmap.
What happens when I sign out of a borrowed phone?
MobileyMe removes your contacts and messages from that device the moment you log out. That wipe-on-logout step is one of our three granted patents and it is on by default.
